NOTE: The book known today as Sanditon was unfinished at the time of Austen’s death and was published 1817 as “Fragment of a Novel by Jane Austen”. Given her tendency to re-write and revise her work extensively over long periods of time, it is impossible to know what this novel might have been had Austen actually finished it. Various other writers have “completed” the novel over time, however, it cannot legitimately be considered as one of Austen’s novels.
